About Cacharel

To initiate and empower young women on their path to femininity, celebrating positive and memorable first times through romantic, fresh, and youthful fragrances.

How Cacharel Was Born

We were founded in 1958 by Jean Bousquet, who trained as a tailor at the École Technique de Nîmes before moving to Paris to establish our fashion house. The name Cacharel comes from a small duck native to the Camargue region of France. Our breakthrough came in 1963 when our crepe blouse was featured on the cover of ELLE magazine, launching us onto the international stage. We became known for our youthful, romantic style and innovative use of Liberty prints in our clothing.

In 1975, we partnered with L'Oréal to develop fragrances, and in 1978, we launched Anaïs Anaïs, which became one of the most influential perfumes in history and a worldwide bestseller. This marked our expansion from fashion into the fragrance industry, where we have continued to create iconic scents including Loulou, Noa, Amor Amor, and Yes I Am. Our fragrances have been embraced by generations of women seeking fresh, romantic, and youthful scents that celebrate femininity.

Throughout our history, we have collaborated with renowned photographers like Sarah Moon and attracted celebrity faces including Gisele Bündchen, Kate Moss, and Laetitia Casta. Today, our fragrance portfolio remains our primary focus, managed under L'Oréal Luxe, and we continue to initiate and empower young women on their path to femininity through positive and memorable experiences.
